Melvin F. Horetski
Melvin F. Horetski, 53, of Harbor Beach, passed away Thursday,
Sept. 24, 2009 in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was born on Aug. 15, 1956 in Bad Axe to Marie (Watchoski) Horetski and the
late Daniel Horetski.
Melvin and Sharon Koss were united in marriage on May 13, 1978 in Harbor Beach.
Melvin was a
member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church. He enjoyed going to Ubly to
participate in drag racing.
He is
survived by his wife, Sharon, of Harbor Beach; and their children, Michael
Horetski of Harbor Beach, and Shawn Horetski of Saginaw; two grandchildren,
Daniel J. Horetski and Katie Lynn Daniels; his mother, Marie Horetski of Kinde;
brother, Gerald Horetski and his wife, Sheryl, of Kinde; and a sister, Denise
Laughman and her husband, Dennis, of North Carolina.
Funeral Mass
for Melvin will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 in Our Lady of Lake
Huron Catholic Church of Harbor Beach with Fr. William Spencer officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation
for Melvin will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor
Beach. Visitation on Tuesday will be in the church beginning at 10 a.m. until
time of services at 11:30 a.m. Parish vigil service will take place at 7:30 p.m.
on Monday in the funeral home.
Edna (Tootie) Ledford Cone Donald

December 18, 2008)
Edna Lee Donald, 76, of Kaleva, died Thursday, December 18, 2008, at her
home. She was born January 27, 1932, in Detroit, the daughter of Boyd and
Marie (Kirchoff) Ledford.
Edna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who
enjoyed going to the Northern Michigan Dragway, traveling and going to the
casino. Most of all, Edna loved spending time with her family, especially
with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Edna is survived by: 4 children, Michael (Cindy) Cone of Brethren,
Sheryl Cone of Kaleva, Dennis Cone of Kaleva, and Mark (Michele) Cone of
Manistee; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Thomas
(Sharon) Ledford of Kaleva; 2 sisters, Susan Clark of Kaleva, and
Christine (Larry) Clouse of Boulder, Nevada; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Easterling Donald in
1994. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; and 2 brothers,
James Ledford and John Ledford; and 2 sisters Marion Perski and Gloria
Cone.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 22,
2008, at the Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, with Pastor David Taylor
officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00 AM until time of
services at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maple Grove Township
Cemetery in the spring.
The family of Edna Donald has entrusted funeral arrangements to the
Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva.

BEAR LAKE — Terry Lee Peck, 55, of Bear
Lake, passed away at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Tuesday,
June 27, 2006, after a lengthy illness.
Terry was born March 28, 1951, in St. Johns, to the late Raymond E.
Peck and the late Hilda Jean Probst Peck.
Terry attended school in St. Johns until moving to the Benzonia area
in 1968. In 1970, he graduated from Benzie Central High School in
Benzonia.
On Nov. 20, 1971, Terry married Joan Elizabeth Knauer "Joanie" at St.
Ann's Church in Frankfort.
Terry was the former owner of the Lakeview Texaco in Beulah, Ray's
Bait, Tackle & Marine and Rosier's Motel in Benzonia and Chief Hill
Mobile Marine Service in Bear Lake, where he and Joanie settled after
selling the bait shop and motel in 2002.
Terry's greatest joys in life were when he had time to go fishing
with his friends, build and work on drag race cars and racing them with
his brother, Mike. He also received great joy from the time spent with
his race track "family," his acquired grandchildren, looking out at the
beautiful scenery from the deck at home and spending time with his wife.
Terry leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Joanie; three sons, Tom,
Charlie and RJ; brother, Mike Peck of Benzonia; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Angie and Dave Williams of Beulah, Joe Knauer of
Beulah, Bev and Blain Krupa of Benzonia, Judy and Kem Wright of Kokomo,
Ind., Diane and Dave Miles of Aurora, Colo., and their families; his
extended family, Dave Priest of Benzonia, Emileigh Nanni of Benzonia,
Clarissa, Mike Maygan and Vivian Spooner of Anchorage, Alaska, Suzy and
her children, Mercedes, Nichole, Monica and Robert of Mesick; aunt,
Virginia Probst of Lansing; and uncle and aunt, Larry and Jo of Ely,
Nev.; and cousins, nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Timothy Scott;
and in-laws, Luanne and Joe Knauer.
Services will be held July 6, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral
Home & Cremation Center in Bear Lake. The Revs. Andrew and Dana Wingo of
Gaylord will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Mount Rest
Cemetery in St. Johns.
The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Oak Grove Funeral
Home & Cremation Center in Bear Lake.

Beeler,
Dennis Lee
On behalf of the racetrack management at Northern Michigan Dragway, I would
like to express my deepest sympathies for the Beeler family. Dennis was always
a very good sportsman and strong competitor at the races. I will always
remember him for his generosity last season during our Cory Gunther Memorial
Race, when he donated several hundred dollars of his raffle winnings to the
memorial fund efforts. Always a gentleman, we were proud to say we knew the
man. Here is a photo of his race car launching at the races.

TRAVERSE CITY — Dennis Lee Beeler of Traverse City died suddenly
Wednesday, May 31, 2006, of heart failure, in Marietta, Ohio.
Dennis was born Nov. 8, 1951, in Beloit, Wis., to Joseph and Rose
Beeler. On Dec. 5, 1970, he married Susan Irene Martindale in St. Joseph.
Dennis was vice president of Directional Drilling Contractors, LLC in
Traverse City. He worked 28 years in the petroleum exploration industry.
His career took him from Siberia to South America and many points in
between.
Dennis lived life to the fullest and never looked back. He enjoyed back
country hunts, drag racing, motorcycle touring and off road jeeping. His
family and adventure were what he lived for.
In addition to his parents, Dennis is survived by his wife of 35 years,
Sue; daughter, Brandy (Troy) of Traverse City; son, Cory (Margaret) of
Modesto, Calif.; granddaughters, Ashley and Alexis; brother, Kenneth
(Valerie); sister, Jenell (Skip) of New York; and his beloved 68 Chevy
Camaro.
A viewing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. today, June 4, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff
Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City. A memorial service will be
held Monday June 5, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, where visitation
will take place one hour prior to the service, which will be conducted by
Dennis' cousin, Deacon Michael (Jan) Beeler. A luncheon will follow at the
offices of Directional Drilling Contractors from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
Memorial donations may be directed to the American Heart Association.
